A little bit of Groucho history

Groucho Marx Oct 2nd 1890 – Aug 19th 1977

American actor, comedian and a master of wit.

The greaspaint moustache and eyebrows originated after he didn’t like having to remove the fake moustache after his performances. Tearing the adhesive off the same patch of skin every night hurt too much. So one night he decided to draw one on. The greasepaint moustache made his eyebrows appear too pale so he painted them in as well. And so there we have it. His trademark was born.

He did eventually grow a real one which he wore for the rest of his life.
